I noticed today...the 3rd or 4th patient that has come to me who sees an outside cardiologist (some in pasadena, some in Santa Monica) where they recommend the patient go on South Beach to lose weight and improve triglycerides...I just find it so funny that is has become an \"official\" recommendation when we know most cant sustain that diet...but some can...any stories from others out there?

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. But basically, it\'s focused on a healthy mixture of good fats, good carbohydrates, and adequate protein - which, is just a logical form of eating.
There are \'two ways\' to do any diet - one to a \'t\', and then can\'t do it anymore because you simply cannot just take a book and follow it for the next eighty years... OR, using the guidelines as tools to create a healthier lifestyle.
It\'s a well-planned out \'plan\', and if someone is really ignorant to healthy eating, it\'s a good start.
This is my second attempt at the South Beach Diet. The first time was two years ago and I did really wel.. I was going to the gym as well and I lost weight. As soon as I added the junk back gradually, I gained it all back. This is my second week on the diet again. The first two weeks are the most difficult because you have to be viligant and have food on hand to eat. I will keep you posted.
