I think you already know what you need to do, but are still hoping to find that magic quick fix.
You already have the incentive - your kids want to have you in their life as they grow up.
You already know that something like Curves works for you. Exercise is a very good thing but it must be consistent. If you can't find curves near you, then you must find a replacement because you need cardio to get your heart rate raised as you will work off the fat. When you replace fat with muscle, you are better off because muscle burns more calories, so be sure to do some resistance/weight training. And you don't need any fancy gym or a bunch of expensive equipment either.
How you eat is very very important. It's a concern that you say you have picky eaters in the family. Sorry, that's too bad. You don't want them to be in the same boat as you are now, so it's time to be the tough parent, to them and also to yourself.
Eat healthy and eat clean.
Cut out all trans fats, and also most of the saturated fats. Cut out the "whites" and eat whole grain. Be sure there are tons of fresh fruits and veggies in your eating plan. Be sure you have a good amount of protein in your diet. Please know that organic is the preferred type in foods. If you have a choice of buying organic or non-organic, when possible, go for the organic.
And for you and the kids too, drink lots of water, not soft drinks, because water helps with weight loss. You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water - that's a minimun!
All the changes you make must be permanent changes. You have found that when you exercised, you lost weight! That's excellent! And then you stopped.
You have found that when you changed your eating habits, you lost weight! That's excellent! And then you stopped.
The yo-yo pattern only makes it harder and harder on you to lose.
You need to make a plan for life, and stick to it.
Eat clean and exercise every day.
You will then live long enough to take your grandkids for a walk in the park.
My problem with it was the amount of work you needed to do. You have to set up your own "profile" according to your body type and then set up your food plan and exercising from there. It seemed overwhelming to me. I like things already set up for me:) Hope that helps.
