Does anybody have a good source/formula or something to determine how many calories you need in a day? I know they say 1800-2000 or something, but it can't be the same for everyone. I do intense cardio 5 days a week, weights 3 days a week , and I am a woman that is 6' tall, so I feel like comparing my intake to all of the super cute 5'1" people can't be accurate. Any suggestions, or is it just about the same for everyone? I worry that I am not eating enough and that I may be slowing my own weight loss.

Search on google for 'bmr calculator'. Your bmr is the number of calories your body would need to stay alive even if you just stayed in bed all day. It is worked out based on your age, height, sex and current weight. Then you also factor in how active you are to get the final result. It will give you a good idea of how many calories you use normally. Then you can adjust your intake to allow for a resonable weight loss each week. I've got all the details in a book if you want any more info. Good luck

Just checked. The bit that factors in your activity levels is called the harris benedict equation. There are plently of websites that will do the working out for you if you put in your details. Any questions just ask. I'm good on the theory, just not so good at following it!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
