A hearty thanks to all who have added a comment to my question: could beans added to a meal of pizza slow up the digestion of both? I think you all are right, you can have your cake and eat it too! You are right, the beans will digest slower than the pizza. No getting around it, moderation is the key. I saw a nutritionist last night and she really made sense to me. Now I have a plan. I am to eat 9 meal choices per day and 3 snack carb choices per day. And PORTIONS is the name of the game we play. This has been wonderful with all who replied, thanks again, Smuggies

Smuggies again, wow the things we say when we are typing too fast. Meant to say "you CAN'T have your cake and eat it too" and "9 carb choices for a days meals". Too funny.

Pizza is lethal with Type 2 because of the grease content! Never forget that a gram of fat has 2x as many calories as a gram of carbs or protein. DM Type 2 is about fat metabolism, not carbs!!! My thought would be to eat beans INSTEAD of pizza.

hi i love pizza i make my own because then i can control what goes in it.thin crust made with whole wheat flour,or 1/2 whole wheat and white.par boil all fatty meats to remove the fat because 1 gram of fat is = to 9 calories. use olive oil,the healthy oil.load it with lots of veggies.use low fat cheese or motzarela which is a lower fat cheese.l aven't tryed beans on it cause the meat and cheese are enough protein for me. enjoy

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
