My mom (62 years old) was just diagnosed today with Diabetes Type 2 and she is really not doing very well, as you can imagine. She is very angry.. She is not overweight, she exercises every day, she is already on a low-sugar diet (splenda is her best friend and has been for the past five years or so) and her cholesterol is the best it has ever been. She feels like she has been doing everything "right" and doesn't understand how this can happen to her. Her aunt had diabetes type 2 and it does run in the family.. She is also a high stress personality..This is not helping matters, as you can imagine. Any advice on how can I help my mother get through this difficult time would be most appreciated. I've been reading as much as I can and trying to educate myself, and this site has been extremely helpful. thanks in advance for any good advice!!
