Today I was reminded that there can be a trick to eating lowfat.
I was admiring the label on my lowfat vegan lunch -- instant peanut noodles from A Taste of Thai -- and noticed that although it claims to have 10 g fat per serving, it also says here that there are 90 fat calories per serving. They CAN'T both be true: 90 calories from fat = 3g fat, and 10g fat per serving would equal 100 fat calories. How to decide which is true?
I'm not going to force myself to perform psychic feats or throttle the truth out of the company; my solution is to go ahead and have lunch but add only half the instant coconut milk powder, which luckily comes in a separate packet and which is undoubtedly a major source of the fat content in this meal. It tastes exactly the same when I make it that way.
Food labelling laws are meant to help us, but sometimes it becomes clear that someone has found, and exploited, a loophole.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
...In any case, comparing the labels, the ones without the coconut powder have about half the fat of the ones that do have it.
