I am not a doctor, but I am a fellow former type 2 diabetic.
I was diagnosed 5 years ago with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.....and was on naproxin for some nerve pain (carpel tunnel).
I immediately took control and went to a low carb diet and did what the doctor perscribed including Metformin and cholesterol and blood pressure meds. Even though my A1C's came down from 7.2 to 5.6......my doctor (I went through about 4 doctors in the meantime due to insurance/Obamacare) would not allow me to come off Metformin. Out of the blue, this past Spring, I developed gall bladder problems and gerd issues. I started doing diligent research and came to appalling information becuz I did not want to have my gall bladder removed as it was NOT infected to the point of removal.....however, my doctor felt otherwise.
I moved into supplements and natural medicine and found that it was a better choice for me.
I have heard great things about keto and realized that I was doing keto or about 95% keto and am proud to say that I am 100% pharma med free. I have lost around 150 pounds. My blood sugar is normal. My blood pressure is awesome. I no longer have cholesterol issues and that is normal. I'm almost 60 and look 50 and feel like in my early 40's.
It took more than proper eating, I also do meditation to manage stress. I have cut out a huge percentage of stress. I exercise daily and do deep breathing. I get good quality sleep. I do not watch the news or negative media. I drink plenty of fresh water. My food is organic (most of it)......and I do intermittent fasting (I only go 16 to 18 hours at most). This means I only eat twice a day (around noon and then I go 5 to 6 hours which means I eat again around 6p.m.). I also gave up gluten even though I am not intolerant of it.....I just feel better without it. I also gave up dairy. I only eat about a tablespoon of cane sugar a day.
I have tons of energy and I don't have cravings any more. I go throughout my day without worrying about highs and lows any more.
Eating out is a bit of a challenge, but I am finding it easier as I teach myself what I can and can not eat. Yes, I cheat here and there, but for the most part.....I remind myself of my health challenges of the past and it keeps me on the straight and narrow.
I don't feel deprived as I am allowed to eat tons of food.....good quality foods. Tons of fresh veggies and a little fruit.
I have digestive issues thanks to my previous poor diet and also the pharma meds which trashed my liver, gall bladder, pancrease......and slowly killing my kidneys.
It will take about another 2 years (possibly) to completely reverse the damage to my liver, etc., but it's getting better every day.
Diabetes is deemed a chronic illness by most doctors. It keeps you trapped on pharma meds that only lead to more meds, insulin (type 2 already make insulin but can not use it......so why are doctors prescribing insulin when oral meds to not work? It may lower the sugar in your blood by sending it to your liver......but the insulin is still in your blood.....bad.bad.bad). This is what I have discovered through extensive research and through my own personal experience.
I urge you to look into keto diet or something close to a keto diet (again.....I modified keto to fit my circumstance and lifestyle I could sustain). Also, check out intermittent fasting.
Yes, check with your doctor. However, if your doctor is not willing to help you with this......homeopathic doctors will.
My last A1C was 5.5 and my fasting numbers were 83.
This will only work if you do the changes. I know it seems impossible, but it beats being diabetic the rest of your life. It beats facing losing limbs and other health issues that lead to a premature death.
Look up youtube videos from Dr. Eric Berg or KenDBerryMD on Keto and also on diabets. Dr Bergman is another doctor who goes into great detail about diabetes and other health issues created by big pharma. Doctors only have about 7 hours in med school on nutrition.
Our food IS our medicine. Our bodies are created to heal themselves......if we allow it and if we help it by giving it the correct foods.
You might think it is too expensive, but pharma, doctor bills, hospital bills, insurance, co pays.......and ulitimately eating several meals and snacks add up to more.
Just some food for thought.
Take control of your health or the doctors and big pharma will do it for you.
I wish everyone a wonderful and healthy life.
I don't need to be a doctor in order to share my own personal experience. I do have 40 years of physiology in a certificate as well as an AA in phsycology. I understand how the brain and body work. I also understand how the digestive system and all the other systems work together. If your digestive system goes down, the rest of the body will not work properly to.
The problem is the general populous does not understand how the human body works and leave it to the doctors becuz they feel that becuz their doctor went to medical school, they are the experts when in fact, they do not know as much as you think they do.
It is a real eye opener to learn how your body works. Did you know your liver does over 500 things simultaneously 24/7, 365 days a year?
Do you know the part the liver and pancrease play in diabetes? Do you know how you became type 2? Why are the doctors giving you insulin if you are type 2 when you already produce insulin but can not use it?
Ask your doctor some of these questions? Ask your doctor what happens to the insulin you inject yourself with if you already produce it, but can't use it? If they tell you that it reduces or eliminates the glucose in your blood, ask where does it go?......and where does the insulin go? If they tell you eliminate it through urination......that is not the whole truth. It is stored in your liver. When your liver gets full, your pancrease takes the overflow. It is also stored in your cells, especially around your abdominal area (this is call visceral fat). This is just a tip of the iceberg.
Remember, there are a plathora of reasons you have type 2 diabetes. You need to get to the real cause and treat it and you can rid yourself of this so called choronic illness that doctors try to tell you it has no cure and to just treat it with a band aide.
I believer you deserve the truth of this and so many other diseases.
I hope for your sake and before they illiminate this thread, that you will read and question everything you are told by "professionals" about this man made sickness.
Take care everyone and take control of your health.....and life!
I know you probably thought I was crazy when you saw the title of this post. I remember the first few Valentines day were so painful remembering the roses I always bought my wife and now I had to deliver them to a grave. But as my healing continued through the grace of God I remembered I still have a very special Valentine in my life and that is God himself. He loves me...
