Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

Hello, I'm a new comer to this community and I'm diabetic and need some advise. I take Januvia for my diabetes and have been doing very well at least I thought, also exercised three times a week water aerobic arthritic class. My sugar reading in morning range in the 80's to 99's and during the day and late evening my sugar level seldom went over med-160's...UNTIL...
Last month I taken sick, ended up in ER, they given me several shots one for pain and the other for nausea. Then to another Dr. whom placed me on on and steroids pack, My sugar reading have been in the mid-200's now slowly, very slowly, coming back down after being off of the steroids for two and a half weeks. Should I go back to my family Dr. for my diabetic medication to be readjusted? At present I'm not being very active do to my set back. Or should I be patient and see when my routine returns to normal, which I hope will be by November 01, then hoping my blood sugar readings will return back to normal. 2nd question? Why when you go for your three month check-up and the Dr's reads your sugar level readings its so different then ours. My Dr's reading seem to always be in normal range from the lab blood work. Thanks!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
why ur readings are different from what the dr gets.. i cant answer u there.. i just recently found out that my meter was recalled and giving me false readings for the last 3 months.. so that could be a guess??.. but dont quote me on it..
The numbers on the side of you test stip box is for testing your meter. They tell if your meter is functioning right.
The number your dr is going by is probably your a1c number. This tells you your average over a certian period of time. It takes into account your highs and lows and gives the average.
Your eating schedule sounds good if this is what you and your dr and dietican have worked out. Give yourself 2hrs between eating and take your bs before you eat.
How many times you take a bs should be between you and the doc.
Have you visited a dietican? That is very helpful to me. I can call her with any questions. I think most insurances pay for one. Also they hold classes to teach you about managing you diabetes.
I have only been diagnoised for a year. I had my sugar within normal range and then it jumped up for no reason. Can anyone explain that?
Good Luck and keep up the good work. Okiegirl
Foxeydad, if we do the right things we can lead and normal life no matter how frustrated we get.
Okiegirl, So thats what those numbers mean. thanks for info. and no I've not been to and dietican for my diabetes. I guess I'm doing okay, my doctor never mention it. Thank you all for answering my questions.
