Finally saw an endocrinologist. He first spoke with me and checked BP and my legs. He said right away my legs are affected by the diabetes. They ache so at night and are cold, but I just thought it was the cold weather. Then he sent me for lab work. Two weeks later, he tells me, (one): my cholesterol is good, but my good cholesterol is too low. (two): my triglycerides are too high. Has prescribed "LOPID" and I MUST take it "every" 12 hours one half hour before eating. That's a hard one, any suggestions as to a good time to do this "every" 12 hours thing??? (three): I have liver problems = fatty liver. Because everything passes through the liver, he has me taking the LOPID for a week and going to have more lab work done - to see what the LOPID is doing to my liver. (four): my kidneys are functioning fine. (five): He says if I want to know Jesus I read the Bible; if I want to control my diabetes and lose weight I must listen to him. (six): THE PLAN: I "MUST" without fail "WALK" THREE MILES a day. How do we do this, he says. After each meal, I must walk one mile. Immediately after eating, no waiting, I must walk One mile. Inside or outside, up and down a corridor or around the block. I cleaned house for a 95 year old. His doctor told him to walk 1500 steps daily. One Mile. I HAVE BEEN DOING IT. WALKING, THAT IS. Either around the block or up and down to 1500 steps. No matter where you are, it really helps you to feel good. I FEEL MOTIVATED. I actually told the endocrinologist that I need motivation: he said, "I am the coach and you are the champion. You do what I say."

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
