My 4 year old daughter\'s blood sugars have really been out of whack lately. She is either high or low we have periods where they are in the normal range and then it goes right back to the highs and lows. The Doctor says she is leaving the honeymoon phase, so her blood sugars are getting really high. We just started carb counting a couple of months ago, but it seems if I give her the amount of novalog that the Dr. says she bottoms out, but if I dont shes in the 3 to 400\'s. She also takes 4 1/2 units of lantus a day they dropped her down to 4 and she started having highs. We bumped her back up to 4 1/2 and she is having lows agian. It just seems like a guessing game with no consistancy.

Remember that your child has a long life with diabetes ahead, and we aren\'t diabetics first--we\'re people first. I\'ve seen many sad stories over the years of people whose parents managed them too harshly and they rebelled with disastrous consequences. My dad managed to keep me completely healthy without counting, measuring or weighing...he used a lot of common sense, read a ton of research and always taught me to pay attention to what my body was telling me.
