I would like some advice about how to deal with doctors. My basic medical care is OK, I get regular appointments to see people and get my eyes screened. It is the actual support I am lacking and I do not know how to get it.
I have been emailing people in the local health service and bothering them for months now and nothing has really happened.
Recently I had a ray of hope - there was a local Diabetes Day where I could speak to health professionals and other diabetics, and they were even going to try and start up a support group. Except I couldn't - it was held between 10.30am and 3.30pm when I would be at work. I am excluded from anything like this because I have a job.
I feel like I am fighting a losing battle here. Nobody is available outside working hours to help me, doctors seem lazy and unwilling to do anything in the evenings or weekends. As a library assistant, I am expected to work at these times on a fraction of their pay and I do not understand why doctors do not have the same pressure since they are dealing with the important issue of peoples' health, rather than someone wanting the new Stephen King novel in a hurry.

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
The thing that gets the most attention is face to face discussion with health care professionals. Sometimes a case worker at the hospital can do more to get things rolling than a doctor can.
We've also found a doctor who practices homeopathic medicine and he usually has a group gathering once or twice a week in the evenings to educate and assist patients and non-patients alike. You might look for something like this where you live.
