i recently had my hba1c test back and it was 12.8. my doctor was unable to offer me any advice when i told him that it was due to stress. i went home and racked my brains wondering how i could change my great blood sugar levels i have in the morning to lasting during the day as well... i used to take my lantus at night, before bed...i now take it in the morning when i wake up..although there were some initial problems (hospital due to hypo!) i eventually got the backing of my doctor. i cant beleive that changing the time i inject has had such a profound effect. i have just had a phone call from my doctor, and my latest hba1c is 5.7 what i just want to say is that for anyone taking lantus, if you're experiencing high blood sugars in the afternoon/early evening for no apparent reason, then speak to your doctor about the possibilty of changing your injection times. it has worked wonders for me, but its not an idea that readily comes to mind for the doctors treating us, although it is known that you can do this
