omg. i am watching the news and just saw a clip about a news story coming up about the amount and length of exams in UK schools. they are saying that many many ppl are saying that it is too hard and too stressful for students to sit 3 exams in a day and to be there for 7 hours or so to do it. now, i may not have a popular opinion in this but my feeling is stop whining! every year in my US high school, my friends and i would have at least a few days during finals and midterm weeks that we would have to sit 3 or 4 exams in a day. it is called testing and a prepared student will do fine during this practice. i think over here as well as in the US the trend it so lower the standards to make things easier and nicer for ppl. well, knock it off! shouldn't we be trying to raise the intellect of the general public? why are we lowering standards instead of finding ways to prepare them better for those things like my teachers? are we all really becoming that lazy that even in school now, where we go to LEARN, we are looking for easy button or the cliff notes? how sad is that? if we keep allowing the standards to be lowered then we have no right to bitch about all of the flaws in both countries. now, before i get lynched, i know there are students that can not take one test a day well, let alone 3 or 4. i do feel that we can find ways to identify and help them as well but the level should not be dropped for everyone because some really are just lazy and unprepared. we should be raising the status quo instead of lowering all of our standards. argh! this makes me soooo mad! they are the future! their education should be the very best and should be the very most important focus of every single country and every community in those countries, and it makes me ill to see the opposite happening all over! sigh...sorry! that one just totally hit a nerve.
