Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I have had or have the most worst lethargy that I ever, ever had. It just ain't worth living this way. I went to my internist doc. He has learnt a lot about my main medical condition: short bowel syndrome from knowing me. He is not shy about saying "I'll get back to you on that." He always up for learning and doing research. I even shared with him that I have been worried that my body was getting ready to die. Out of the five sbs folks that I have known personally, three have died from unexpected symptoms popping up. He gave me a serious look and said, "We ain't going to have any of that." When we rule out any traceable reason or reasons for the huge increase in fatigue, we will consider mood alleviators. He told me to force myself to get out and exercise. Exercise is a must med for me. Without it my accelerated aging would go unchecked and I would die for sure. So, I force myself to do a fast short walk yesterday and one today. I did one and a half yesterday and three miles today. I do feel much better. I don't feel most exuberant but much better.
I so much would like waking up from a sleep and be ready to go. I bet there are plenty of you in here who have bad fatigue also. A few of you have spoken up. Are there more of you? What do you do to counter the bad fatigue?

I get very bad fatigue. It's probably just the depression. I eat a good diet, I take vitamins, extra Bs on bad days, and I make sure to exercise everyday...even if it's just some stretching yoga. Get as much quality sleep as I can, even if it means taking some Melatonin. But it's true, exercise is key. At first it makes you more tired, but before you know it, you have alot more energy.

I also find that exercising helps my fatigue..also taking a nice shower and then brushing my teeth with some strong peppermint toothpaste and putting on some lotion that has peppermint in it seems to wake me up

I have been here before, a long long time ago and now I am back.Forgive me for not just saying what I want to say, even under a triple dose of antidepressants it is still raw and seeping and I am hesitant at revealing it as at least under the bandages around my heart I don,t have to look at how raw and wounded. My child was cleaved from my heart by his own actions. my child of ten, turning eleven...
