Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm interested to know (ona dedicated thread for the topic) what you opinions are of the "non-related" depression topics in the forum.
From my perspective I think it creates a distraction from people's depression sometimes which is needed in some cases. I also think that depression and the cause of depression can present itself in many forms. One such form that doesn't seem to be discussed a lot is "situational depression" which is generally caused by an event but not necessarily on the same level as "clinical depression".
We all crave for that feeling of happiness do we not? I think that in some cases the joke threads provide that, even if it's only for a moment, but the end result is that it often pulls someone out of their funk for a while. Is that not a good thing?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I don't think the Depression community would be better without non-depression post. I enjoy the laugh and being able to turn my attention away from how low I feel. I don't like the bashing threads and the petty fights threads...I feel those are just a waste of time. But I guess you have to accept the good with bad. *shrugs*
Sex does play a part in depression (or sometimes lack thereof). I personally am neither here nor there on that one. I had a look at the thread and simply chose not to participate.
