Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Many people, if they think back, can find a time or two when they were happy. The key is to replicate it, where possible in the present and in the future.
Happiness, like any emotion or state of being is transitory. It is illogical to assume that we can be happy all the time. The more reasonable goal to have more happiness on a regular basis that some of the other 'negative' emotions.
Happiness is a pleasure state of mind. No one resists or questions happiness. We simply experience it and notice when it has passed. We notice it more so when it has been the case for a prolonged period of time.
Sadness, its opposite, can turn to depression if the sadness persists over time.
