My mom was here this last weekend again, and from about a few days before she came i started having reoccuring nightmares, but they weren't like before. They were of different abuse that i went through as a child, but in the nightmares i was an adult! It has caused me to not sleep during the night, even if i took a sleeping pill. When it would wake me up in the middle of the night, i would attempt to get back to sleep but would fail. So i ended up getting out of bed, going to the couch and watching something really boring on tv hoping that would make me fall asleep, but it didn't work. It was like i was paranoid to sleep! Since about last tuesday i started having my nightmares and i would get maybe about 1/2hr-1 hr of sleep every night for the last week. I'm so tired, so worn out...What was really pathetic was trying to pretend that everything was fine when they were here.
I guess what i'm asking you all is does anyone have any suggestions that i could try to help me get back to sleep after i wake up in the middle of the night?
It never seems to fail when i see my mom that it seems to increase my suicide attempts, just like the one attempt the other day!

I wish I had an answer for you but I have the same problem with bad dreams. I just want you to know that you are not alone.

I've had nightmares at times, not from abuse, but I suppose from hidden fears, that just wouldn't stop. If I woke up, the second I was back sleep the nighmare would start up right from the place it had stopped, again and again, until I'd just give up and watch TV or read the rest of the night. That doesn't help much with getting you back to sleep, though. :(

I think most importantly you need to try to be calm... you wont go to sleep if your worked up. Remember whats happening in these dreams is just that .,...dreams and memories.. Perhaps you could talk to someone about them. Or talk to your mum.... If you need to get back to sleep have a warm ish bath and read a book, this should help you drit off..

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
