When I left for college, I left a boyfriend that I loved dearly. We had that "perfect" relationship. Everything was wonderful. I was at my highest point that summer. We shared so much happiness. At the end of the summer, he signed a messenger bag that I was having all my friends sign. His message was simply a list of things that made us happy.
It's important to think of happy things during our bleakest hours, of course, and sometimes that seems impossible to do. I keep my list of "happy things" handy should I need a little pick-me-up.
Please share your list of things that make you smile, and remember to keep it close for when you need it most.
- Picnics w/ fireworks, lightning, rainbows and hot air balloons. Yes, Kenneth and I went on a picnic just outside of the city one night. It was near the 4th of July, so we had fireworks in one direction, a rainbow from the passing storm in another, the lightning from the strom in another and a hotair ballon. It was incredible.
- Making/watching things grow. I breed livebearing fish and keep aquatic plants. Seeing tiny baby guppies or new leaves on a plant makes me smile.
- My family. While frustrating at times, I do love spending time with them.
- New goals. I changed my major and moved to a new apt. I switched from Civil Eng to Bio Sci. For some reason Chem and Bio make me happy, and I do very well in those classes.
- Ducks
- Water
- Sailing
- Frisbee
- Flowers
- Spring rain
