Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm fighting hard to overcome depression. Not that I expect to be completely free of it, but I don't want depression to rule my life, as it has for decades. It's very hard to change, though. I have to stay on the ball and challenge the negative thoughts that fill my mind, the harsh self judgements, and the unrealistic expectations. I have to learn to accept myself as I am, even at my heaviest weight- which seems nearly impossible. And I have to reach out to supportive friends and ask for help instead of going it alone. It means learning to think and do the opposite of what comes most naturally to me. That's a tall order.
Anyone who tries to simplify what we have to do to really make lasting changes in our lives doesn't know depression very well.
I have a theory that people who are depressed are effected by gravity differently than those who don't struggle with it. The heaviness that pulls us down and immobilizes us feels tangible. There must be some correlation between the two.

I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
