How have you all responded or felt about psychotherapy? I feel like I talk in circles and spend 45 minutes digging up pain and then can't get rid of the feeling for the rest of the week.
My therapist, after 7 or 8 weeks had yet to make suggestions about what directions I should take in order to begin getting better. We just go over crap over and over. My crap is pretty basic; stress from work, family, and a relationship.
I feel like there is NO progress. Any thoughts about your own?
Thanks :)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
*hugs*
did this make sense? i am up way past my bed time
I have made it apparent to my therapist I am ready to make changes and look foward. He's a very shy therapist with me usually having to begin the "hello, how's it going". I just was curious whether other's have hmk or projects to work on while not there to encourage growth.
if you want to focus on the present and resolving those issues, you can do that too.
I found it helpful to choose specific issues and focus on them for six week blocks.
I hope you can get past the digging and get on with the living.
Sometimes it may not feel like you getting anything out of it but to get those negative feelings that are deep can be theraputic also. Tell your therapist how you feel maybe he can take a different approach or if not you made need a new couselor. I have been told sometimes it takes several therapists to get one thats a right fit. Good luck don't give up.

The Royal College of Psychiatry give some information

you have to decide that you give them time, that they are not a magical solution that will work in a day, and you have to put the time in.
All the best. Please let me know how you find these
good advice.......
