I am current on Effexor XR for depression. Are there any herbs any of you would recommend taking at night? I read a few posts about St. John's Wort and HTP. I've taken St. John's before to no real avail (that could change if combined with effexor perhaps?).
Can anyone recommend anything to sort of supplement or enchance Effexor's effects?
Thanks,
-Travis

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
omega 3 what exactly?
vitamins, fish oil?
Herbal substances sound like a better idea then "drugs"... but they are in fact drugs...
For example; both Marijuana, Opium and the Coca plant are all herbs, but I wouldn't suggest taking them.
I also wouldnt suggest taking poison Ivy either.
These substances are largely unregulated, and just as in the case of St. John's Wart, many of them have been proven to not only work no better then a placebo, but also have side effects that are bad for your health.
I would recommend you stay with clinically proven chemicals. In the case of many herbs, they are very complex containing many chemicals, that make these pills very hard to study.
If there is something to one of these herbal substances, you will see a pharmaceutical company isolate it and sell it in a pill form.
Remember, that the drugs we take are under very close scrutiny by many different institutions. Their is a NEW herbal substance every day!
