Hello everyone, i'm new to this community and this is my first post. I was thinking about joining a self-help group in my town but this is a less scary alternative! So i just wanted to introduce myself and say what a great idea i think this community is.
I also wanted to ask everyone when they first knew they were becoming depressed, and what their experiences were like. Personally I was 11 or 12 years old and i had no idea what was happening to me. I'd just burst into tears for no apparent reason, get up in the morning feeling a sense of dread, and i was so confused and frightened. It took me years to understand what was going on.

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
Welcome to DS. I'm positive that you will find a lot of good friends and supports here. Groups can be scary, I agree. I was terrified on my first day of the depression/anxiety peer support group. My whole body was shaking inside. When it was my turn to talk, i broke down and burst into tears and ended up talking to the crisis team.
my point is, once you get over the initial anxiety of going to the group, it's not as bad as it seems. you will meet a lot of good friends in your community that support you inside and outside of the group. Taking a risk and going to the group in your town could be very helpful in your recovery. plus you can see how others cope, and get some good information about your own issues.
I'm here if you need to talk.
Again, welcome to DS.
Take care
