I'm not what you would call a religous person but I heard something today that I would like to share with you all:
It's a quote from a book called "How To Stop Worrying And Start Living"
OUR DAILY BREAD
William Osler urged students at the American University of Yale to begin everyday with the Christian prayer "Give us this day our daily bread".
Remember that the prayer asks only for TODAY'S bread. It doesn't complain about the stale bread we had to eat yesterday; and it doesn't say "Oh dear it's been pretty dry out in the wheat growing farms and we may have another drought - then how will I get bread to eat in the Autumn - or suppose I lose my job - oh dear how could I get bread then?"
No, this prayer teaches us to ask for today's bread only. Today's bread is the only kind of bread you can possibly eat.
The message behind this quote I suppose is that we should only take one day at a time & not distract ourselves with worries about the future. It will only cause more stress & to be honest, if there is a drought, there's nothing that could be done to change it.
So my friends I give this quote to you to help you maybe better understand your worries & maybe find a way not to notice them.
As I say I'm not religous but today I was truly grateful for The Lord's Prayer. God Bless you all. Love Diane xxx
