If you don't have a script for sleep med then try benadryl. I take Ambien CR and it works great for me. I know the mind racing at night thing is very aggravating.

By dwelling on going to sleep you are telling your body it has more work to do and it will not quieten down. Plan to make a restful night of it reading or listening to low soothing music and drink warm herbal teas, just don't do anything active. Do you have a cat to curl up with? My cat Pink will lay beside me purring and her sound relaxes me to the point sleep closes my eyes.

try putting a dvd on you love but have watched a million times so you won't mind falling asleep to it. Unless you suffer from insomnia....then you need meds.
