how do you do sit ups by yourself? I cannot seem to do them without something or somebody holding my feet down (does that mean I am out of shape or what, LOL)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I am on the diet site also, and joined diets for idiots, it's actually quite good
sit ups are good for tightening muscles, but they don't get rid of the fat that sits on top of them, if ya just need to tone, sit ups and crunches are good, if ya need to loose a little flab, ya gotta watch what you eat also
was that too much information? lol
hey chuck...I LOVE YOUR PIC
It is recommended that partial crunches are done in place of situps. Hook your feet under the couch or a piece of furniture, squeeze the abdominal muscles and while run your hands (or slide) them either along your thighs or along the ground so that your torso raises about 4inches. Remember to keep you neck in a position so that your spine is straight rather than trying to tuck you chin onto your chest
The other thing is not to go for how many you can do but the quality of each crunchie. No point pumping out hundreds if they are done incorrectly as this can result in physical injury and is also a waste of time as you will not achieve anything.
One of the things we used to do in the Army to maintain our core stability (in our own time) was to do 5 quality crunchies at each tv ad break
