Does anyone really believe in that saying? Or is it just something people say, to solve peoples discomfort?

Nope I belive in it fully...I know its hard to understand, but there are things in my life that if they had happened there would be consequences I would deal with today....I believe God (or whom ever you believe as well) looks over all of us, and knows what we dont....

I believe it, yet sometimes I feel like its just something to say, but it always proves to be true in my life...I think it just depends on the person & the situation

I agree w/ both of you, sometimes things just don't make much sense to me.

I do believe in that saying. But I also believe that people say it to solve peoples discomfort. When people are feeling down, it helps to say things that will make them feel better, to make them feel as though there is still hope and courage out there for them. But i do believe that if u have done something bad, and u don't feel bad about what u done, a kind of revenge wil come in the picture. This is just my point of view on this. I think that u are always doing good things for others, and respect others, that a good thing will come in return.

I believe it. Sometimes it takes a while for us to dertermine the "why" things happen. And sometimes we may never figure it out.

Reason explains something that has happened and the explanation may, or may not, be true. So yes, everything happens for a reason and people do say that to give comfort. It's a great discussion topic!!

It's all random. Even our brains. If there's a reason for some of the stuff that's happened to me it's a sick twisted reason, and I refuse to believe in that.

deleted_user
As hard as it is sometimes, I have to believe that everything happens for a reason... There is too much bad stuff in this world and if stuff happens like that for no reason, what's the point of living because nothing is ever going to get better? (Sorry to be depressing)

Things "turn out for the best" only when we perceive them to and I think that the choice to believe that everything happens for a reason is one method that people use to successfully perceive a constructive outlook. Personally, I believe that everything happens for a reason only in the cause and effect sense. In other words, there is a reason, of course, why liquid water turns to ice when it reaches a particular critical temperature. I don't believe, though, that everything happens for a reason in a "master plan, everything will work out for the best" kind of way. With that said, I think it is healthy and important to look on the bright side of life as much as possible using any method that works.

i wont believe it, ever ever ever.x

its Bollocks

I believe it.

This is just one of those things everybody says and wants to believe but can't. Like, "It's not if you win or lose, it's how you play the game!" or "What goes around comes around!" LOL! Best not to worry about life having any grand purpose or reason, I say.

deleted_user
I believe it, but it is only helpful in hindsight. It really doesn't happen in the here and now. Now - - If you could tell me when and how the "for a reason" is going to show up - then it might make the now more bearable

When I am hurting NO.... Even when I am not hurting it doesn't. I think if things happen for a reason then that would imply that something is guiding us (or at least me) and I don't feel that. If it helps a person to think it though, "then more power to you". I feel best comforted when I eat right, exercise, take my meds regularly and am busy...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
