Do you usually take shower or bath? Can a simple healthy habit help you dealing with depression?
Please read the following story and reply to the question above.
My sister and me have had depression for over 5 years, my sister live in Taiwan and she was into heavy anti-depression and anxiety treatment for the past 5 years. Her condition has been in a regular 2 months cycle, from feeling OK to worse every 2 months. She sometimes had to take 3 different anti-depression drugs just in order to be alive. She does not have to go to work; all she worried is if she could go to sleep at the night?
I am very different from my sister and I have been trying not to rely on the drug too much. My biggest symptom is the insomnia and I only had one breakdown over my mother's illness. Using commonsense to question things is always my big stubbornness. Questions like : are all those CHEMICAL drugs we are taking this day has any TOXIC effect to our body? Why there is no other way to treat depression besides all those chemical drugs? If taking a bath can relax us why most people in depression won't take it? Could it help? blablabla....
One of My daily routines is TO TAKE A HOT BATH every night before I go to bed. It somehow really RELAXES me physically and can calm me down emotionally. I have been encouraging my sister to take a bath instead of shower. For some strange reason she just never want to take my advice.
2 months ago she met a friend in her support group telling how wonderful this new treatment she had and that is taking a hot bath with sea salt and Ginger in it. At the time my sister was so sick and tired of being in a 2-months cycle life style so she start trying to take a bath instead of taking a shower. 2 weeks ago she mentioned about this simple treatment and she really can feel the benefit in terms of helping her out of depression. Last night I talk to her again, she has never sounds this good for the past 5 years; she is much happier and livelier than ever.
So I would like you all to participate in this study if you could, please reply to my question:

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Thanks for the reply, let's think from different angle first.
1. In a standing position or lay-down position your body is more relaxing.
The answer will be lay-down, otherwise all doctors will ask you to stand up on your bed.
2. When blood circulate throughout your body, which position will most likely to make the circulation more evenly
the answer is still aly0down position, when you stand up you blood flow is more concentrated in your lower body
3. Time spand for shower and bath
People tend to take more time to take a bath than shower. Taking a shower somehow hurry you up to finish it but not bath.
But another difference between showers and baths are that most hot showers make chloroform, which is a toxic substance (according to my Environmental Science class), and if you run a bath there is less chloroform going into the air, so in that way too baths are healthier!
I do agree the bath relaxation works.
