After a recent thread on contacting the police. I would like to encourage people to investigate their local laws on their requirements to report. It can be a criminal offense not to report -- especially if a MINOR is at risk.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Most people have a LEGAL obligation to report abuse, suicide, etc. involving a person under the age of 16.
Candleinthewind had also posted that many young women are coming to us who may also be experiencing suicidal tendencies.
My personal experience here. Never received such inhumane treatment anywhere else. I filed a complaint but still should have never been subjected to all of that.
Just my two cents worth.
can you imagine feeling low enought to commit suicide then having someone call the cops?? it would push me over the edge thats for sure!
Oh, FYI for anyone who caught the video on one of our officers tassering the mother who who went out with friends adter a wedding and was just sitting in a car waiting for her friend to drive her home? It was national news, on the early shows and entertainment tonight and all over? That same officer is being disaplined for another incidence... in this town, people have been going out with video cameras over police brutality for years... TWICE the police have searched my home without a warrent, once when I was at work and my kid and the neighbors told me, wrote down the number off the cruiser... but no report was even filed. I've sat on a curb and talked to a homeless women who had been beaten down by police for making the mistake of falling asleep on a picnic table. We don't call the police unless it is absolutely neccessary. If someone is suicidal, sending the law might scare them out of getting the help they need. Or just get the person arrested or beat down.
Perhaps, I should mention that I have and would call the police, especially in the event of a minor being at risk.
