my mum has had depression for the past 5 years and it was triggered by her mother committing suicide,
however she has had multiple treatments and is better for a few weeks then falls into cro0nic depression again. one time she left us and went to Sydney for 2 yers,
she recently came back and all was good, she got a job and has been good for the past 4 months, but then she started sleeping all day.
Now she is back in hospital, i feel like she likes being depressed and can not handle a family.
she has no pressure on her and she doesnt have to do anything all day. yet she is depressed
she keeps saying 'we' dont understand. but she does not understand what this is doing to our family. the bills for her to go to hospital are huge. and my dad is working 12 hour days.
i dont know what to do. please someone help me

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
first, take a minute to about Diabetes... diabetes is a medical problem dealing with body chemisty (insulin in pancreas or someplace) that must be treated with medication and lifestyle changes.
Clinical depression is just another medical problem dealing with body chemistry (seritonin in the brain) that must be treated with medication and lifestyle changes.
Both ailments need medical attention and treatment... diabetics see dieticians, etc to help learn how to live with it... people with depression often see therapists to help them learn how to live with it.
She is not doing it on purpose... it is a serious medical problem.
I know it is confusing to someone who does not realize that depression is a lot more than just having a bad day... everyone gets the blues. Depression devistates lives.
Perhaps a new medication or some counseling. She may feel guilty or sad over her mothers death for whatever reason. Hang in there, she will get better with proper treatment and support. I work out at the gym and swim and it helps alot. Have her take a class, excellent way to keep her mind busy and not feel down. Yoga and pilates class too. It works great for me. Let me know if this helps. Debbie
