Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone ever tried a therapist online? If so, could you let me know how to get there and better yet how much it would cost to talk to one? Im leary about talking to one person to person yet, as alot of them cost so much and id like to try something new and see if it helps. thank you all and hope today is sunny for you.

I believe online therapy is very expensive. I understand the desire to keep some distance between yourself and the therapist--going to therapy is scary! However, having said all that, therapy with a real person is far superior. It is more intense and thus more powerful. Dealing with a real person in front of you would be much more healing, in my opinion, than online therapy. Once you got comfortable with your therapist it could be a great thing. Let me know how it goes either way!

Hi,inshadow, I would suppose that online therapy would only be effective if you already know the therapy protocol. There is a certain way you learn to interact in therapy, and each therapist is a little different. And since only about 15% of our communication is transferred by words themselves, it would be significantly less effective than face-to-face. In order to 'read' you, your therapist also needs to hear your voice, see your posture and gestures, etc. If you can't find one that suits you, or there aren't any available in your area, though, online would be better than nothing. Last time I checked, the rates were comparable to a regular therapist, and there were none with a sliding scale. But that was several years ago.
