Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi All,
We have been wanting to join this group for some time but are hesitant.[
Technically I have Major Depressive Disorder,Recurrant with non-psychotic features along with PTSD, and MPD.
I know the Major Depressive Disorder qualifies me, but as I read some of the posts here, I worry about having Multiple Personality Disorder. I see sometimes the disorder is not always well received.
Just an FYI, I have been dx'd MPD for about 12 years now (I think...not always good with time) and am quite well adjusted to my DX. I deal with my MPD stuff in the MPD room.
Anyway our major issue right now is getting out of bed...meaning most days we can't.
So, we are asking for the groups honest opinions. If the MPD is an issue please speak up and no offense will be taken. We need a safe place to talk about depression issues and don't want to compromise the safety of others either.
Thanks in advance for your honesty.

i feel like my depression is getting in the way of my parenting. I don’t feel like I have a connection with my child that I should. I love my kid very much but sometimes it’s hard to deal with him. I’m scared for what issues my depression will cause him to have later in life. I have a hard time really spending time with him I want to do things with him it’s just hard I don’t feel like I...
as long as you keep to this, youll be welcomed, and just about anything you do will be accepted. you can still talk about off topic stuff like cooking and opinions on other stuff, jokes, and what not... but dont bring drama to the boards until youve been a member here longer, and helped out or made friends.
I have also noticed a huge compassion and support by the Depression 'community' for MPD/DID folks.
I would say the MPD/DID people who do well in the Depression Group do so because they seem to be able to keep "little one alters" off the Depression Group and in more appropriate groups for them, where they are much more safe.
With that, you should do well for yourself in the Depression Group, .. if you can manage to keep your 'littles' (if any) "out of the street".
In case you don't know, here are some groups just for MPD/DID Littles (in no particular order):

We appreciate your advice and resources. We have our littles all set up in the appropriate groups already...just like you said, they know those boards are their safe places.
Appreciate your consideration...Thank you much :)
