I've been battling depression. The first episode was about a year ago, but I didn't really realize what it was.
Well, because of that episode it did some real harm to my marriage and we are currently separated. When my wife told me how unhappy she was and that she wanted to try separation it sent me down the tubes into heavy depression.
I've been seeing a therapist and I'm now on Lexapro. I ramped up from 5mg to 15mg over 4-5 weeks. When I got to 15mg things were so much better. I really felt like I had a grip on things and had a better outlook to take it just day by day. I even had a whole slew of family stuff hit the fan and I handled it really well.
Then about 10-12 days ago I really started slip back and started to have moments of really bad thoughts. So, I stepped up to 20mg of lexapro, but it really hasn't seemed to make a difference. Sometimes I'm ok, other times I'm just a mess - crying, anxiety, etc.
So, I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks for reading and any help, support, advice or anything you could provide would really be appreciated.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Dealing with relationships can also be an added strain for any who is experiencing depression.
I hope you get the extra support here.
My wife and are still communicating well and spending time together, but she tells me that she just can't envision how we could be together, long-term in the future. Which obviously really hurts to hear.
glad u r here; u know, it took 2 different types of meds b4 i found wellbutrin; at first, the dr. started me on celexa, (didn't work) and then paxil (really didn't work, but then wellbutrin seemed to help alot; so maybe trying a different med may be the answer, talk with your dr. about it; sometimes it helps to keep a daily journal on your feelings and mood a few days b4 you go to your dr. so that he/she knows what's going on with lexapro; for the most part, this sight is very helpful, and most of the people are here to support others, as they receive support as well!
you said you were new here, so WELCOME. This is a nice place for support and I hope you find it that way too.
I just started lexapro about three weeks ago, and I just cant toel yet if I like it or if it is working enough. I am only on 10ml though so it might have to be increased.
you seem to be on the right track for yourself, and I hope you stay that way. As far as your wife is concerned I could not answer that one. I hope what ever is best for you both is what happends.
Some days I feel a glimmer of hope that we can work things out, but most days it seems like she just doesn't think we can respark our relationship.
