Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My depression started after my daughter (now 10) was born. When my doctor first suggested Zoloft, I was amazed at the change.
I did what a lot of us do and thought I was better, got off meds, went downhill, etc. About 2 years ago, I finally realized that this was something that I'll probably have to be on the rest of my life, and I'm fine with that.
The only thing now is that I'm feeling like it's not working. Can you build up immunity to the meds? As you're on it for pro-longed periods of time, is it necessary to up the dosage?
I'm to the point where I'd like to withdraw from everything right now... friends, family, work. This is the 3rd day I've stayed home from work and not told anyone. I just wanted to stay home. I know it's not right.
I go in for labs (other issues) tomorrow and then follow up with my doctor later. I think I'll ask these questions to him.
Thanks for listening. I feel like I have a secret that I can't share and joined here today in hopes of finding somewhere I can be honest and not judged.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
This is a very helpful very friendly community and you are very welcome here ^_^
Welcome and good luck with the visit.
Occasionally, new meds, or adding to the cocktail your already on helps. Not so much tolerance, as you may just need more of this, a little less of that. Your blood gases should help with finding the right ones for you. Sometimes are you low on dopamine, serotonin, gaba, neuro? damn, can never spell or pronouce the last one. Or maybe a combination of all of them.
Get my point. Depression is a emotional reaction to a physical problem. It's frustrating, but just takes time to get the right mix.
welcome to DS, there are some really fantastic ppl here...
I have never been on meds, that were prescribed to me anyway. But, I have seen mixed reactions where sometimes, it will level off and now, your body is ready for something else. A few posts here have otulined some good information, it is all about physical/chemical balance as something in your body/mind has changed since the birth.
I cant speak medically since I have never been on meds, so I only wished to welcome you and share that I know people that are on meds. They are always getting the meds altered and lots of times new ones are added. I just dont get or know how long you have to take them to get things straightened out.
Welcome and good luck at your doctors tomorrow.
