Ok, here's where we are now..
29 yr old son, had good programming job, went psychotic in 1/07. Sz-affective, then schizophreniform were the diagnoses in that order. Risperdal did nothing. Geodon and Lexapro had him pretty good by June, socializing and back to work. He quit the Lexapro in July or August. A month ago he went foggy, couldn't do the work, socialize or anything else. Basically quit the job and moved in with us.
Now he's rational but that's it. Stays mostly in his room except for meals. Plays video games all day. Does go to a job as a math tutor at the local college two nights a week. Has no ambition, no interest, thinks he'll be living with us the rest of his life. Actually denies being depressed - he doesn't seem sad, just flat. He will be losing his regular psychiatrist due to insurance thing, which might be an opportune thing to get a 2nd opinion (of course it'll be state-paid guy who won't have much time to give him, let alone really give a rat's ass about him). Me and his psychologist think it's major depression. Pdoc didn't think much of anyhting..
Cajoled him into going back on the Lexapro over 4 weeks ago and no observable improvement so far. He's lost his mojo, again.
What would you do? I'm thinking give the Lexapro another two weeks, then see if some other anti-depressant would work better? Some of you have said that once abandoned, a lot of meds won't work the 2nd time.
Probably won't change the Geodon, were thinking it's the cause of his fogginess but we're too scared the psychosis will come back - but then again faint heart ne'er won fair lady.
Any insights?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
good luck!
And when I get down to it, the pain of seeing my boy like this drives me to do a lot of dumb things I guess.
Sorry about your bro in law - my boy never has done the drug/alcohol thing but used to like his beer. He's always been very med-compliant but of course he could be not taking it and lying but I don't think so.
