The movie tropic thunder was just released. i was able to see a free early screening last week. i've been arguing with my family about it ever since. my family is african american and from the south. they remember jim crow not because of school text books, but because they lived through it. they are very offended by the character in black face and are encouraging people not to go see it. I've read in the papers that groups that represent the mentally impaired are also protesting the movie. what i'd like to know is, what do you think? is the movie terribly offensive and over the top? has anything u've heard about the movie encouraged or discouraged you from seeing it? if you or someone you know is african american or has a learning disability, are you offended by the movie?
