I was raised in the church, but I haven't attended church in many years. I have always considered myself to be spiritual. My husband's family is catholic-- his uncle is a preist. Lately, with all of the bull crap that my life has become, I wonder. Some say that faith and prayer will get you through, but I would walk around praying in my head all day long and it has given me NOTHING but pain in return. I am truly questioning the existince (sp?) of God or any other higher being for that matter. Or, maybe, it's just that I am praying to the wrong god?

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
in all fairness here on both sides.
my favorite website for christians is
http://www.creationmoments.net/radio/archives.php
takes everyday things that happen in science, and explains them in a spiritual way. Very cool read. That alone is all the proof I need.
I don't think anybody should be criticized for their beliefs, one way or the other. Yes, I am a Christian, and proud of it, but I am not going to go around recruiting other people who don't wish to be recruited.
God says, believing in him is a choice we all make. If we choose not to believe, the bible says they will burn in hell for all eternity when the end time comes. All we have to do is believe, to enjoy the splender of heaven. That is what it boils down to.
A better christian point of view, towards non-believers, should be more like: "we understand that you don't believe, and we will support you in your decision, but we feel sad because you will not be joining us up in heaven" that is the jist of what we are saying. anyone who scholds or yells at other people because they choose not to believe, isn't reading the bible enough. We want to recruit as many people as we can into becoming christians because we want to save as many people as we can, but if anyone chooses not to believe, we cannot do anything about that, and must moarn for the loss, so to speak, not show anger.
God wants us to be more like Jesus, and Jesus, would never show hatred towards his fellow man, not even Lucifer himself. We do not hate gay men and women, we feel sorry for them, but we do not hate them, there is a difference :)
Firstly: Who came to the empty tomb?
MAT 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
MAR 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
JOH 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Secondly, there are two contradictory stories in the Old Testament dealing with the creation of Man. Who came first...men or beasts?
GEN 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
GEN 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
GEN 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
GEN 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
Where did the Sermon on the Mount take place? A plain, or a mountain?
Matt.5:1,2: "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying...."
Luke6:17,20: "And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people...came to hear him.. And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples and said..."
Here's a biggy...Jesus's Last Words:
Matt.27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."
Luke23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
John19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
How did Judas die?
"And he cast down the pieces of silver into the temple and departed, and went out and hanged himself." (Matt. 27:5)
"And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels gushed out." (Acts 1:18)
There's also another contradiction in the Old Testament about the number of tribesmen...I don't quite remember the verse!!!
You can't prove something that you are suppose to accept by faith. Faith, being site unseen. That is the whole purpose. I grant you there is two sides, believers and nonbelievers, you are welcome to be on either one you choose. It's called free will.
Faith in God is a one on one relationship. He lets you know what you need, when you need it. If you want to argue faith, do so with your maker, not me. You will be given plenty of opportunity on judgement day. Your welcome to debate him, he is ready.
I don't know about all the different religions, never found one that I quite buy everything either. But, one thing I know, at the end of times, ALL knees will bow to their maker. I believe in God, not religion.

To me, organized religion is simply another power structure...
