My love is a doctor, he has a Phd in 'liquid dynamics' don't ask!! It beats me too. He is a mathematicion and by nature can only reason with logic. I, on the other hand still want to be able to measure the universe. He says that is impossible, I disagree. Can you imagine the kind of debates we have? Me, always challenging, he always right. Me stubborn, he stubborn. Yet we respect and love each other.
In the depression forum, I happened to challenge someones comments. It was not out of malice, I just asked a simple question and stated my position. All hell broke out, the tirade of abuse. "Cor blimey guvner" I thought, can't a woman have an opinion? What did I do to deserve all that? Then I did a little research to better understand the outburst. "Gang warfare" the bullies group together, too damned scared to stand on their own. I spent a year studying the Chicago street gang culture as part of yet another one of my degree courses. I understand the 'whys' the 'wherefores' with my logical mind. What I find so hard to understand, is that here, here is the place we can be understood, here is the place that everyone in the depression forum knows how bad that feels. Why oh why do they need their little petty fights? It beats me too.
I totally understand about the need to belong, the need to have backup, the need to have friends to listen, support and share common interests and goals. So why in this painful world that doesn't understand us, do we need to fight against each other?
I don't know, I think I'll go off and measure the universe, it's a dern sight simpler.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

Good luck with measuring the Universe. Come back and let us know what you find.
Good luck!
Ganging up and lashing out is, unfortunately, something that happens whenever you get a group of human beings together in any form, and the internet is no exception. In fact, I believe that online exchanges are a little bit worse, because there are certain facial expressions and inflections in tone that you can use to establish the other person's meaning that is lacking in online communication. Sometimes, you just have to step back and reread the comment that bothers you and see if there is any other way it could have been intended.
