Hello all! I'm new here and need some help. I haven't been diganosed with depression, but I scared to to the doctor. I'm always worried about what other people are going to think, especially the doctor.. I used to work at a mental heath clinic and know what really goes on behind the scenes, but I just don't think I can go on feeling this way any more, I just don't want to sound stupid!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I'm not a doctor, so maybe it would be wise to seek out a medical opinion.
I know this isn't the answer to your question, but depression takes on many forms and it can be really serious so getting proper medical attention is really the best option despite what you may or maynot have experienced in your own professional life. There are good therapists and good doctors out there and you have to educate yourself and learn to advocate for what you need or get others to do this for you if you cannot.
Hope you feel better and that this helps.
You have an advantage, you use to work in a mental health clinic. You know what you need to do. Perhaps, you May want to go to your GP first, or go to a clinic you never worked at? In the neighboring town?
Depression does not take away your human rights, you don't have to disclose to anyone that you have depression outside of a doctor of your choice.
