Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

....and say that it's bullshit and it sux then stop and think a bit more carefully.
DS is only a vehicle, it provides functionality and a site for people to come together and share similar experiences and gain more insight into whatever community they have chosen to belong to. It is, as it sates, "for informational purposes only. We do not provide any medical advice, diagnosis or treatment"
If you think that DS is bullshit then instead of blaming the site I suggest you look at the PEOPLE and PERSONALITIES that are within the community. It is the members and their input and persona that make DS as a whole.
When you're out and about at work, at the mall, doing groceries, at the Dr, at school you still get personality clashes, people still say things that you don't agree with and people call other's names. Do you react to them in the same manner that you react to people here?
Do you have the choice to ignore them and walk away?
When someone disagrees with you, do you think to yourself "Well that's their opinion and their entitled to it" and keep your mouth shut knowing that if you say something it will only fuel the fire?
Do you call everything else bullshit when it doesn't meet your expectations and go the way you want to?
C'mon people, get real here. People are going to do and say what they want, it's called freedom of speech. Use the skills that you've learned in how to deal with people and put them to use.
Just make sure you know where the blame is supposed to lie because in this case....DS in NOT to blame for the bullshit in the community, we as member are.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

" hi guys - here's some thoughts for you.
we now have 4 full-time folks doing customer care, trying to make sure your experience here is nothing but positive. we also have 7 advisors who participate as often as they can, offering medical, psychological and general perspective on issues. lastly, i try to spend as much time as i can helping out.
ultimately, it's up to you, the members of DS, to act appropriately and truly offer support to each other. we all have our bad days, and unfortunately it can be really easy to hide behind the computer screen and say things you'd never say in person. it's just a fact of modern life.
we're constantly working on new tools to bring forward the best stuff, and hide / remove the bad stuff.
anyway, if i sound defensive, i'm not. i'm just passionate about helping all of you, and it's a real bummer if folks are getting anything "bad" or "BS" our of DS. please keep telling us how we can help.
we've got a product coming out in about 6 weeks that may solve lots of these problems...i know that seems like a long ways away, so i'll just ask you to try and hang in there.

I visit other communities all the time and I don't usually see back biting, petty fights, and things of the nature there. Which is a relief for me. I just avoid those I know are only here to cause trouble.
It boils down to our own skills in how we cope with stress and stressful situations. To my mind, if someone is lashing out at others there's usually an explanation for their behavior (something that has happened through the course of their day) and that perhaps they haven't yet learned coping mechanisms to be able to help them get through it yet.
That's when the rest of us (who are feeling good) need to show a bit of tolerance to others to help them.
Just my opinion here
I decided to create this post not because of what you've said but because I've seen a lot of people in various forums say the same thing.
I think most people know by now that I try to take a neutral stance in most things and give people different viewpoints and options.
I understood the intent of your post and I think it was good too
