If the pills don't work don't give up. I have been fighting depression since I was 10 and now I'm 35. I am on a combination of medications and sometimes they overwhelm me. I am on buspar, cymbalta, synthroid, amitriptiline, triavil, litium. I am finally balanced. It takes time and a really good dr. Have the thyroid checked because it can cause depression as well. Or you could be treated for depression and it might be something more like bipolar. Don't give up your combination and faith will see you through.

See, my problem is that I too have been on meds since about age 10 and for some reason my body has built up a tolerance to pretty much everything. I've been on so many combos and they'd work briefly then stop and now I have given up and I am in the process of going off all of my meds. Its tough, but I'm tired of constantly switching meds and only getting relief for about two months or so and then I have to try another one. I think although its gonna be the hardest thing I've ever done, going off the meds completely will help me. Obviously I'm in therapy so that's my replacement I guess. I wish there was a combo that could help me, but I've seen the best of the best and tried pretty much everything and nothing helps. My body just has a tendency to build up a tolerance and build it up FAST! Kinda sucks, but hopefully I can help myself.

I so wish people would understand this. It's as though they expect a "miracle" cure overnight and that's not going to happen. I have the same problem as you nmward84, with it either not working or working for a short period of time and stopping. It is frustrating and tiring and wears you down even more. There have been only 2 over all these many years that have "worked for me. (see topic on ECT treatments). As with everything else, you have to find your own way with this. Lady, I can only imagine what it took on your part to go through the processes of finding a combination of six meds that work!!! You are a fighter, my friend, and good for you!!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
