So a new roomie moved into the house where I lived a month ago, and good Lord, it has been a nightmare. She's this woman with a three-year-old son (who is an absolute DARLING). Turns out she's also an addict...she's doing pot on a pretty regular basis, and we suspect she's also doing crack. (She grinds her teeth and twitches like a crackhead. I work at a soup kitchen - I know the signs!) She's paranoid, she's narcissistic, she's freaking and tweaking every other day, she's perfectly horrible to her kid...it sucks SO BAD at my place right now, it's not even funny!
We're threatening to call Child Protective Services, and I think we will. We're also getting her the hell out of this place. But ye gods, I SO don't need crap like this right now...meds haven't kicked in yet, so I pretty much want to kill myself 24/7 as it is. GAAAHHH!!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
For the sake of that precious little boy please call CPS.
Gonna play devils advocate......
As I see it you have a few options available (and bearing in mind this is only from what info you provided).
1) if the lease is in your name then you have the right to request that she leaves.....the catch 22 in that case is the wellbeing of the child.
2) If there is cause (and it certainly seems so in this case) that the child is being neglected and/or harmed because of the mother's activity (ie) drug use and physical abuse, then you have cause to ring child protection services.
3) If you are renting then you have the option of contacting the landlord and have him/her deal with it.
4) You can ring the police and report possession of drugs and suspected narcotics use and let them deal with it
5) You can move to another location
Either way, I understand your concern for the child but try not to become emotionally invested in the situation as you have your own problems to deal with. Certainly this woman is compounding your problems and I'm sure the stress would lessen if she were not living there.
I hope this can help you in some way.
Fortunately, it'll only be another week, max, before she's out. Assuming she doesn't get herself arrested first.
I'm asking because I used to live in a duplex and people moved in downstairs with a boy about 12 and two wee little kids and the mother was a serious crackhead (who avoided me) and the boy was trying to take care of the wee ones. I got to thinking one night those kids are crying because they are hungry, she aint feeding them so I sent soup and sandwiches downstairs and the crying stopped. After that, I started accidentally cooking too much and sending "leftovers" downstairs for those kids.
Childrens Services doesn't always step in, sometimes they have mommy sign a paper promising not to do drugs in front of the kids and stupid stuff like that.
