My boyfriend is depressed, he goes in and out of it. He dont want to go any where else for help. Since i dont know how to help him, its bogging me down a little too. Is there anything i can do to help him?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Are you able to recognise the signs when he starts to slide into depression? My BF has learned to do this with me and will often come over and hug me and ask how I'm feeling and what can he do to help me. On saying that though, I have had to learn how to openly discuss my feelings and that was very hard.
There's a lot a pamphlets and websites that can provide you with information on how to help a loved one who suffers from mental illness. I think most hospitals have them too. Educating yourself on his illness might help you to be able to help him.
