As a society we worship Hollywood so much, they are the trendsetters that decide what is "hip and cool", what we are supposed to wear, and we ooh and ahh over everything they do and watch plastic people like Mary Hart going to these $1,000 a plate "charity dinners" more concerned about who designed their clothes than what the charity is about.
Hollywood has never placed an emphasis on committment and fidelity in relationships. Celebrities change lovers like most people change socks and they get married for all the wrong reasons and then break up when they get bored. Nobody wants to watch a soap opera if a couple stays happily married, everytime a problem happens, the answer is to end up in someone else's bed.
I am tired of living in poverty, but is this what I could look forward to if I became rich?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
i think that applies to people in general
That was nearly 2 years ago and I haved moved on except for the Holidays, where I still struggle..
there were many women that HAD to stay in abusive marriages all their lives..when "society" frowned on divorce...and a divorced woman...well..she was pretty much trash..DAMN lucky to ever get employment..no options left for her, really.
people..male or female..sometimes just happen to marry a sucky person. i really don't think Hollywood has much to do with being an asshole. :)
We need look no further than ourselves for the blame on this one. We have put in place the leaders who embody the values we hold--and if we didn't look at them closely enough, we got what we asked for. WE buy into the quasi-truth of the surface, and fail to look more deeply for substance.
I am over-saturated with this world's excesses. It robs our spirits. We believe we deserve everything and we deserve it now...and it better taste good, feel good and cause us no inconvenience at any time...I call it the fast food mentality...We don't care if it isn't good for us in the long run...We don't look beyond NOW...We act like spoiled children...
That is what has happened with marriage, with culture, with society, with our health, with our children, with our minds...We have gotten highly expectant and very lazy...I recommend shutting off the entertainment news that will inevitably depress you by making you feel inadequate or sickened by the shallowness and plant a garden of hope :0)
