my friends and I are struggling to keep up with the number of young girls who come on here who are in desperate situations and looking for help. It is very overwhelming. Does anyone have any idea how we could set up a support network of helpers? Sometimes i feel completely out of my depth.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
All we can do is try to be supportive and help them the best way we can, to get the help they need.
I am more than willing to do that. I have successfully helped several people on here in the past.
Myself and mentalhealthadvocate are the two active members I know of who are equipped for crisis intervention.
I know there are others on here, but I am not sure who they are, or how active they have been lately.
Since this is not a crisis center, it is virtually impossible to expect there to be someone "on shift" at all times.
If you cannot provide any other support in a crisis, the best you can do is advise them to:
1) call 911
or
2) go to the nearest ER
or
3) call one of the hotline numbers from the "crisis hotlines" link in the blue area at the bottom of every DS page.
If they will not do that, try to get them to get help in some way.
There is only so much you can do on the internet.
So when you do find a young man who asks for help, you better believe them.
About boys, in britain the suicide rate for young men is the highest category, this is such a shame, it must be because they find it more difficult to talk.
