I've been taking effexor for about 3 months - when my doc switched me from the 37.5mg to the 75 mg I started an extreme sweating - all day, all night. 3 showers a day, changing clothes that are wet, sheets and PJs soaked at night. Anyone else have this problem?
What other med would you recommend for depression that wouldn't cause such sweating - I've heard that most SSRIs do and if you are sensitive to one, you might have problems with the others.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
The biggest thing is: If any side effect is bugging you enough to make you anxious about the medication or interfering significantly with your daily life, you should talk to your doc about whether it's the best option. In the mean time, don't stop taking without seeking your doctor's advice (Coming straight off Effexor can cause withdrawal symptoms in some people), and drink lots of water.
It's so uncomfortable and I'm waiting to see my pdoc so that I can change the meds.
I suggest you see your doc if you want to change your meds, good luck
When SSRI-type antidepressants such as Celexa, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac and Zoloft are taken with migraine medicines like Imitrex, Maxalt or Zomig, there is a serious risk of serotonin syndrome. Symptoms of this condition include anxiety, agitation, uncontrollable muscle twitches or contractions, high blood pressure, diaphoresis, confusion, convulsions, hallucinations and even coma.
SSRI drugs can trigger serotonin syndrome in combination with a number of other drugs, ranging from antibiotics such as Biaxin to pain medicine such as tramadol (Ultram). Ask the pharmacist to check on this possibility before taking any other drug with such an antidepressant.
