TBH, sometimes a 'proper medical' point of view would be much appreciated here, so be careful that you're not innundated with friend requests, LOL

So I am depressed, i didn't know it was a crime....Just because I have dedicated myself to my schoolwork since high school graduation and you think I am too young to be a doctor doesn't mean that you're right. I am a doctoral candidate which is why I am doing my ER Vet internship right now. I wish to work as an ER Vet, and for the next two years I will be interning as one.

No, I'm not questioning your honesty, what I said was your profile makes one curious how a 19 year old woman can have graduated college and is in a doctoral program. A few very gifted individuals have done it so I'm not in any way saying it is impossible, but it does seem unusual. And your defensiveness also causes one to wonder. However, if you are constantly questioned, and I imagine you are if you are in a clinical position that your patient's owners mistake you for a tech rather than the physician. I know a physician, MD, who looks twenty years younger than she is and has been mistaken for a patient many times. I have been mistaken for a physician when in the hospital, so it goes both ways.

I am just sick and tired of constantly having to defend myself to owners and whatnot. I don't think I should have to suffer because I graduated high school early and wanted to get a headstart on my post high school studies. I was also dual enrolled in my junior and senior years, so I was doing college and high school credits at the same time.

I dont think it is much as discrimmination against you personally, but when you are in a group with depressed people, that are used to seeing doctors and are here to talk and not be viewed by a doctor of depression.

Seemed quick and not let you explain who you are and why you are here.

Maybe just too many problems in the past with people not being who they say and you are just caught in the crossfire, for no reason of your doing.

It must be frustrating to have to explain your credentials to others but unfortunately it is something youre going to have to learn to deal with. Perhaps youd find it easier if you used a sense of humor to address the issue, or be proactive and address the issue before the other person. You might also find it helpful to use it as a learning experience, without doubt youll have to deal with many distraught and downright nasty individuals in your practice and learning early on how to deal with it will make your life easier.
Lastly, congratulations on your hard work, I suspected you had been dually enrolled but didnt want to presume. You are a very fortunate young woman and I am sure will offer dedicated service to your patients.

I used to be a vet tech :) Wanted to be a vet, but couldn't do the long schooling, more power to you, it's hard work and work I didn't have the determination to go thru myself :)

lol, I don't think people are asses on here. Some people might get moody sometimes, but it definitelt isn't an all-time thing.

When one reads "ER DOC" they think of a "person Doc" not an Animal DOC.

Either way that is some accomplishment. I see this is very important to you becasue you can have any name on these boards and yet you wish for people to see you as an ER Doctor.... You have that right. I would be proud too. However if you want to bypass all the cr*p you say you keep encountering... then it is probably in your best interest to leave out the info that people keep useing against you so you can get the help you came here for.
