Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I would just like to say the following, in the hopes that it will maybe open the eyes of a few people here, and also to help open the eyes of the well meaning individuals that try, and fail, to repeatedly help these folks.
If you are abusing prescription drugs or alcohol, even if it's that weekend bender, we can't help you with the inevitable spiral that will follow.
Can we maybe try to get you through one night, yes, and many kind hearted souls here do - week after week.
I know first hand what effect a few seemingly harmless drinks can have on my condition. It isn't pretty.
YOU CANNOT CONTINUE THAT BEHAVIOR AND GET BETTER - PERIOD!
I'm sorry if life isn't fair and you can't go and "party" like your friends. If you feel this is the only way you can cope, you do not need to be posting here, you need a rehab.
It seems to me that, without naming names ( we all know who these people are), the same people are having meltdown after meltdown on a regular basis, and I know these people have also been using substances.
It's very wrong to put the people here through this time and time again when you are not willing to take responsibility for your own life. In addition, we are becoming extremely desensitized to this after the continual drama, and may not hear that call for help from someone we can genuinely assist. If you are abusing alcohol or drugs, we CAN'T help you! Call an ambulance! This is what substance abusers do, they cause nothing BUT drama in the lives of those around them, and if you don't want to heal of improve your life, I honestly don't know what you expect from those here.
It's a vicious cycle, it does NOT stop, until you end up in a hospital or dead.
If you identify - get help and stop making everyone else pay for your quick fix.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
We are all very different, but in many ways the same. If you drink regularly, it will bit you in the butt sooner or later
