A recent post in another forum (which will remain annonymous) was about gaining monetary restitution for a victim and they believed this would fix the problems they had in the past.
I found this intriguing due to the fact that a lot of the damage to the victim was "emotional damage". How does money compensate for the problems that arise from a traumatic event.
My PERSONAL opinion on this is that money provides opportunities that were otherwise not there before, for example the opportunity for home improvements, broadening the horizons by going on an oseas trip. I do believe to some extent that some of these opportunities can give some kind of piece of mind (ie) paying off that damn mortgage hanging over your head. I do not believe you can buy back your childhood, I do not believe that it can buyout that trauma that you may have experienced earlier on in life.
My question is this......do you think that money can buy you happiness and if so, in what way?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My parents were in a car accident last year and are sueing the ins co for pain and suffering. My mother will never beable to walk normally again, plus on top of that the hospital bills (they have to pay deductibles) is astronomical. Both of my parents are going to have to have knee replacements down the road due to the accident. They are not greedy people, but they went through 6 mos of hell and pain before things even started to get better.
once the money ran out i myself would be right back where i started.
