How do you get over it?
I believe this is where my fear of people has come from.
How do you start trusting people and make friendships when you've been treated inferior your whole life.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. Trust is not an all or nothing issue. You can start out by trusting people a small amount and build on it. Remember trust is not about you. Base your trust on the actions and the character of others.
Whenever someone gives you reason to not trust them anymore, let them know. And then begin making decisions based on that behaviour.
For example, if you notice that someone acts out of anger, well, they may get angry with you one day. When someone becomes angry and volatile under the influence of alcohol or drugs, remember it may be directed your way one day.
When people act with consideration and kindness, remember them. It isn't a foolproof method, but base your trust on your observations.
You cannot control what others say and do, but you can limit the impact that they have in your life.
