Hi all, sorry to bother. I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with Ashland, Ohio or the area in general.
A friend sent me some some info on a beautiful farm there at a really nice price, and I'm tempted to just snatch it up for the land value.
Thanks in advance for any information you may have, and have a great evening all!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Either may provide you with a bit of the info you're seeking.
Good luck.
The area is in Ohio's farm belt and is south and west enough to be out of the areas that get hammered with lake effect snow in the winter.
It is about 1 hour south of Sandusky Ohio where the amusement park, Cedar Point is located. It has been ranked the #1 amusement park in the world for as long as I can remember. I have not been there in a couple years, but at last visit it had 13 or maybe it was 14 rollar coasters. And by the way if you like the thrill of coasters, everyone they build breaks at least one record at the time it opens. (One of the best depression removers that I know of)
Hmmm...... Ashland
There is a state park located near Ashland in the town of Loudon, called Mohican State park. If I remember correctly, there are many horse trails there. But before you take my word on that I would have to do a google search to find it's website and verify it.
I can't think off the top of my head what else you might want to know about the area.....
I would love to see pictures of the inside if you happened to get it. You might be onto a personal gold mine.
I am not sure what the area is doing economically lately. I do have some friends that live up the road about 30 minutes in Norwalk and could contact them to find out.
Remember Congressman Jim Trafficant? Beam me up? Bad hair, slept in his office, crude and outspoken? He was our representative and we kept voting him in because he was one of us, more like the average joe on the street, and he actually did represent us in Washington. Some of the things he went to prison for are things we don't see as a crime. It is common practice to thank somebody who does something for you by doing something for them in return. The fed. gov't thinks thats kickbacks and illegal stuff. We think that's just being neighborly. Someone helps me with a flat tire, I bake them a pie. When someone thanks you and says let me know if there is anything I can do for you, that's not just being polite. People would be offended if you didn't take them up on that. They mean it.
Clevelanders don't think like that, don't know if Ashlanders think like that. But you might run into that. Pies are a nice thank you.
If it is an Amish house, odds are it is NOT wired for electricity and may have an alternative heating system and/or steam power out in the barn. It should have indoor plumbing. TASTE the well water and try to research the well depth, etc. Some areas in Ohio have bad water with too much iron rust (orange clothes) or white flakes that settle in the bottom of your glass or tastes like sulfer. Odds are an Amish house may not have water improvement systems.
Amish kids are allowed to sow their oats before joining the church. Do not assume just because its an Amish area that there isn't wild parties and such. Near here awhile back, there was a big drug bust involving Amish kids and a motorcycle club.
And of course, you have to watch out for buggies.
It's definately worth checking out!
